A few weeks ago, I met a friend’s cat. My friend told me her cat is mean and grumpy but it’s okay because it’s **not her job to be nice to everybody** Seems really simple and obvious but really had a huge impact on me!

Cats can definitely be moody and have an attitude, but that’s exactly what I love about them. They know when to keep their distance. It reminds me of how I just learned about toxic positivity. Heck no, if I'm feeling down, I'm not going to force myself to be upbeat. Just like cats, it's okay to have boundaries and not always be cheerful.

I’ve heard it said that people don’t like cats because they’re the first pet to actually have boundaries, and people can’t handle that…
