Imagine being on the 52nd floor, mid-workout, when an earthquake hits. That’s exactly what happened to Kwon Young-jun, a South Korean man in Bangkok. Exercising on the 52nd floor of Building C at Park Origin condominium during the March 28 earthquake, Kwon realized the connecting skybridge was breaking apart. In a split-second decision, he leapt across to Building B to reach his wife and child. Fortunately, they had already evacuated, and he joined them downstairs after descending 40 flights of stairs. The family escaped with minor injuries. This harrowing experience underscores the unpredictable dangers of earthquakes, especially in high-rise buildings. It’s an important reminder of the importance of emergency preparedness and the extraordinary lengths to which individuals will go for their loved ones.
