St Michael's Mount England The island monastery of St. Michael's Mount ("Mount of St. Michael") was founded in the 12th century by Benedictine monks. This is a tidal island: at low tide you can reach it along a special path paved along the seabed, and at high tide it becomes completely inaccessible. St Michael's Mount has been called the "jewel in Cornwall's crown" and is often compared to the French abbey of Mont Saint Michel.

St. Michael's Mount sounds like a truly fascinating place with its rich history and unique tidal access. It must be a magical experience to visit such a picturesque island monastery. The comparison to Mont Saint Michel only adds to its allure.
