The government has approved draft rules for taxation of cryptocurrency transactions, Izvestia has learned. The bill, prepared by the Ministry of Finance and already agreed upon with the Ministry of Digital Development, the Ministry of Energy and the Federal Tax Service, assigns the status of property to cryptocurrency. The bill assumes that legal entities will pay income tax, and individuals will pay personal income tax. Crypto transactions will not be subject to value added tax (VAT). Citizens and legal entities will need to report cryptocurrency transactions to the Federal Tax Service if the amount of receipts and write-offs exceeds 600 thousand rubles per year. Mining infrastructure operators will be required to transfer data on services rendered to the tax service. If the information is not received within the specified period, the site will face a fine of 40 thousand rubles.
