Thoughts on Zapper's ChainChat?

I personally don't get the financialization of chat like this and friend tech. I can't seem myself using it and don't think it scales.

I put it differently - group chats have implicit value, they are information markets and a way to connect w/ individuals 

It’s all about setting up the incentives in the correct way, financialization is a second order effect

Yep exactly! It’s also a way to place value on the connections you have in the group - something that isn’t as rationally motivated than say a information ROI. Kinda like NFT communities. 

We also split up the chat and messaging protocol from the SC. The SC itself functions more like a guild membership registry

I see. So it's like a social extension of defi in a way. You pay since the group gives you information/deal flow that you monetize in one way or another. Not that it's the only use case but the one where the ROI of paying into the channel can be more easily measured.
