spent at least an hour today adjusting my espresso distribution tool’s needle lengths in order to accommodate 24g baskets… so, in case you think your spouse is insane, this is what @brileigh puts up with.

this is probably my main hobby aside from hi-fi, pretty elaborate setup at this point. another niche topic that I will unleash on farcaster at some point.

I have an older Linea Mini (added shot timer, newer motherboard and smaller gicleur, walnut accents and bottomless portafilter), and a Mahlkonig K30 grinder> Had been using a wdt along with the ocd, but just switched to a blind shaker which I actually like better. You have a great setup!

hell yeah, nice setup yeah I think the blind shaker is hard to beat, really does a lot and very quick. I do like the results of the moonraker used in addition to the shaker though I'm finding it really fiddly with basket sizes other than 20g.

I moved to a weber workshop unibasket which I think made it easier - but I pretty much just do a 20g basket. Haven't played around much with other sizess tbh

yeah I have mostly used the 20g Unibasket which works great but bought the 24g and 28g to play around with. so far with the 24g, it's really challenging to avoid channeling since the Moonraker needles aren't long enough by default so you need to custom cut needles to match the basket which is a huge pain. other than swapping 20g → 24g, same prep routine so that's the only potential cause I can think of.
