Manhattan DA said Thompson's death "was a killing that was intended to evoke terror and we've seen that reaction" Uhh, the only people who felt terrorized by this were other health insurance CEOs But it's good to know that the national security industrial complex can now be used to protect corporate goons π https://ground.news/article/luigi-mangione-indicted-on-murder-charges-for-shooting-of-unitedhealthcare-ceo-brian-thompson_b6cb6a

Political violence is very bad, if shooting ppl some consider to be merchants of death is ok, abortion doctors will be at the top of that list, to which I think leftists will be singing a different tune...

Totally agreed π, there have always been people that cheer on murder & violence as long as it's done to the "right people." Of course, it's a foolish notion on so many levels...because (1) we aren't going to agree on who is deserving of political murder (2) you can't determine if/when oneself ends up on someone else's hit list & (3) we know it never just stops with {CEOs, abortion doctors, politicians}...as we've already seen played out by other regimes in history. You don't have to be the target of political violence to be terrorized by political violence. I've never voted for Trump and I was still furious at his attempted assassination.

Yeah I don't support murder or any violence personally. But at the same time people gotta recognize that if the system and TPTB are continuously hurting and killing people via denied claims and astronomical health care costs, eventually there will be blowback by victims who can't take it anymore. Similar analogy to the response by foreign terrorists to American imperialism and overthrowing of their governments. Nobody supports terrorism or killing of innocents. But after decades of meddling in middle eastern affairs (to the severe detriment of people who live there) it's not particularly surprising that some of them will have radical anti-american views and turn to violence.

There are many claims that are justifiably denied, opiate abuse being one of them, or doctors/hospitals committing fraud via over billing. In so far as someone feels defrauded by their insurance b/c they brought a covered claim, I am sympathetic, but that's why we have a court system. Part of the reason for astronomical costs is that people don't negotiate and push back against exorbitant billing by hospitals, health insurance is on the front lines of this, so we should want them to negotiate hard for lower prices.
