In the last two months, @base has seen a sharp rise in tokens created and token creators on launchpads like Virtuals, Clanker, Zora, Apestore, and Rainbow, with over 400K tokens created and 70K token creators per month. This sharp increase is mostly driven by the launch of Zora Coins, which last month accounted for 90% of both tokens created and token creators. Tokens launched on Base launchpads generated $10B in DEX volume over the last 6 months, with a monthly all-time high in January 2025 of over $4B in DEX volume. In the past three months, monthly DEX volume of these tokens has stayed above $500M. We analyzed token volume by the token factory where tokens were created. Virtuals and Clanker have led over the past six months, but Zora gained traction last month, reaching 25% of the volume, compared to 47% for Virtuals and 22% for Clanker.

PumpSwap (by Pump Fun) capturing 25% of DEX volume on Solana in 7 days shows how important is distribution. Solve distribution and you solve revenue. Distribution giants will increasingly moving toward owning adjacent, revenue-generating products/protocols.

Interesting to note that DEX HFT (high-frequency trading) volume market share on EVM chains has been growing compared to Solana. Nevertheless on Solana, ~50% of DEX volume is still attributable to HFT, the highest % of HFT volume among major chains. Last week, Ethereum regained the top spot in volume market share as DEX volume on Solana declined significantly. The main chains by volume are Ethereum, Solana, BNB, Base, and Arbitrum, with BNB gaining market share in recent weeks. On Ethereum, Uniswap still leads in volume, but Fluid has been growing in recent weeks. Fluid now accounts for 16% of Ethereum’s DEX volume, while Uniswap holds 58%. On Base, Aerodrome leads in volume, followed by Uniswap, with 50% and 38% of the volume market share, respectively. DEX Screener’s revenue is closely tied to Pump fun, and the recent drop in Pump fun’s volume and revenue has had a similar impact on DEX Screener’s earnings. DEX Screener to Pump fun revenue ratio also dropped significantly, falling from 10% to around 2%. DEX Screener’s weekly revenue has dropped from around $2M in the middle of January to between $200K and $400K in recent weeks.
