When you feel like you’re on a roll, and then you just get derailed by something (or even nothing, like wandering attention), How do you get back in the zone? I know we all struggle with this. I’m always looking for new tips to try even if it only works once, because novelty.

I struggle with this at a wide range. Be it unfocused minutes turning into hours to a good habit maintained for months only to face one small oversight and to seemingly come to a halt in a night. While I haven’t found a working solution for myself, I’m coming around to being more forgiving myself and not holding myself to impossible standards of staying consistent or even being able to easily bounce back. ADHD or not, life is messy and unpredictable and wrenches will always come our way. Some may come in the form of an impulsive thought to look up on the internet, others may be from being out of the country for a few weeks or major life changes. I think it’s a constant balancing act of being graceful and forgiving vs disciplined and extra intentional.

This is generally how I am. I’ve been a little too forgiving for a while and now I think I need some intentionality to get back into some semblance of balance.
