sometimes I scroll past an hours old cast that has no engagement. it makes me wonder— am I the first to see it? is it such a niche thought no one else relates? sometimes I wish I could acknowledge such casts, so the caster at least feels heard, but maybe that would be interpreted as ignored. maybe I’m overthinki

I think likes are generally great, simple ways to engage. but in being so binary it could also be bookend of a thought. akin to a thumbs up in a private chat. imagine if instead of replying to your reply, I just liked it? would you interpret it as me agreeing, and/or not caring enough to dig further?

Agreed. What about the scenario where you enjoy reading the thread, learning something new, but have nothing to add since it’s out of your expertise? Liking could signal to others that it’s an interesting discussion and may be valuable to them too.
