This is easily my favorite aspect of hip-hop: sampling

It's a +50 year lineage that spans across genres. Snippets of sounds that transform into entirely new songs. Bridging music across generations. A traceable family tree of audio and culture.

Especially the seemingly obscure samples! Some random sound from an old song ends up being the backbone of a really popular song decades later.

Watching that video I was saying out loud 'what?! no way!' when they'd flip four parts of different songs into one iconic beat or take a part and reverse it and somehow it's a great beat
