Took a video of my graph animation for my Mandarin language learning vault.  It's got lists of words, graded reader stories, song lyrics, etc. with each word getting its own definition note with audio embeds and example sentences.

LOT of time went into making it, and I still work on it regularly even though I don't need to do the intensive vocab study as much now.

How long have you worked on thisbeen?

father, husband, css golfer, ux engineer, silently defining variables as /sdv sdv.wtf

That was about four months of intense daily study. About 6-8 hours a day.

Whoa, basically full time!! Never seen such dense notetaking, especially using Obsidian.

How proficient are you in Mandarin now?

Hey that’s totally valid, written language is beautiful in its own right! And also very practical considering how nuanced Mandarin is to speak.

I can read high school level texts relatively easy, novels with lookups.  My main focus with languages is learning to read them, so don't ask me to speak it 🤣
