strange that we have basically the entire nouns gang on FC and there’s no chatter about the biggest esports gaming tournament which has an official nouns team

Which gaming tournament is this? I follow competitive Smash Bros which was once adjacent to the fighting game community and thus had EVO but it’s slowly pulled away over the years. All this to say there are several Nouns sponsored players in Smash!

This is the The Internationals of DOTA2. Happening in Denmark this year! Nouns team made it through the playoffs but got knocked out early in the main event. Grand finals is tomorrow! cc @nounsesports

I have a vendetta against DotA for ruining Warcraft 3 (custom games) but have great respect for it kicking off the MOBA genre. Cool that Nouns got that far!

Unless you meant ruining the RTS genre in which case i think it was on its way out (except in certain regions like S Korea)

Agree it was fading away, but nothing to do with DotA. Warcraft 3 had a vibrant level editor that let players make their own games and easily play and host online. Before DotA there were lots of novel games like Tree Tag, Changeling (something like that), Poker TD, etc. DotA later dominated and it was ggnore.

You’ll be surprised how much people still play some of these. I haven’t played Dota2 or opened the client in a long while but I’m 100% people are playing custom games (non DOTA) in troves: tags, auto chess, pudge wars-ish etc. I’m not sure about the editor though.
