High expectations set by society adds needless pressure for it to be a thing.

I try to treat mine as any other day except maybe I’ll get a free dessert at a restaurant.

It could just be the general stress of planning an event with the added stakes of it being a celebration about you. Feeling stress means you care, and well, why wouldn’t you?

Seeing the other reply thread, I’m sure it’ll work out in the end if your invitees have enough notice to plan accordingly!

but steve... i want it to feel special.. it is a reminder that i have completed another year of life and i doooo want to celebrate that.. it ISNT another day to me
