I’m hoping to one day explore earthly.dev, which seems to solve the problem of reproducible + efficient builds both locally and remotely (i.e. regardless of your CI platform).

How do you feel about NixOS

I don’t have practical experience with it. My outside view is that it’s currently impractical to adopt since it requires everyone on your team to be proficient to be effective, whereas a Docker solution is “easier” to adopt, relative to NixOS. macOS support is also not quite there as I understand.

Yeah depends on deployment target - if the the target is a docker orchestration mgmt layer of sorts, and CI support - then yes this makes sense. I’m curious from the perspective that my deployment target would be NixOS as well, in which case I can deterministically deploy the same thing as dev - but I’m sure YMMV
