is there an example for it as a data primitive? curious what the representation looks like. these posts are good but I wouldn't call them primitives.

Good improvement over original implementation. A third iteration I'd suggest is to use separate tables for events instead of enums. Changing enums requires DDL changes and it's impossible to remove values once added.
