The scope of this upgrade is limited to Scroll's smart contracts.

Neither the sequencer nor follower nodes are affected. This bridge contract upgrade is backward compatible, meaning that most smart contract interfaces and functionalities will stay the same.

The upgrade will be initiated on Feb 7th through the Scroll Multisig contract and will be subject to a two-week timelock.

On Feb 21st, the upgrade will be executed on Scroll Mainnet, and Scroll users will begin to enjoy an approximate 50% reduction in bridging costs.
