Our upcoming protocol upgrade improves efficiency and reduces bridging costs from Ethereum to Scroll by up to 50%.

In the weeks leading up to this upgrade, we conducted rigorous internal testing on our new contracts, in addition to numerous tests on Scroll Sepolia. All contract modifications have been audited by @OpenZeppelin.

The upgrade will be initiated on Feb 7th through the Scroll Multisig contract and will be subject to a two-week timelock.

On Feb 21st, the upgrade will be executed on Scroll Mainnet, and Scroll users will begin to enjoy an approximate 50% reduction in bridging costs.

What's next for Scroll?

Our engineering team is currently developing features and improvements that will drastically enhance the Scroll zkEVM's speed and cost-efficiency.

The scope of this upgrade is limited to Scroll's smart contracts.

Neither the sequencer nor follower nodes are affected. This bridge contract upgrade is backward compatible, meaning that most smart contract interfaces and functionalities will stay the same.
