Anybody got any theories on why no 3rd party Telegram app has got any traction? Also why there don't seem to be any really good ones? 

seems there could be ways to monetize them (free with scale + affiliate/txs/ads)

Do you have any insight @jamesyoung? Collab is the most successful TG bot I've ever used.

Oh I guess this is client vs bot. Read it wrong.
