The biggest advise I got on how to be more "creative:

Curate a moodboard for whatever it is you want to be creative at.

A huge part of creativity is consuming a lot of source material and being able to draw upon them easily

This includes software engineering too! GitHub stars is a great way to do this

it’s interesting how underrated is the power of the visuals to stimulate our day-to-day tasks

luckily this approach of visuals is not tied to designers or “artists” anymore but for anyone who needs to come up with something new or enhance an existing thing

also, it saves a lot of brainstorming/thinking time!

This is such good advice.

People think mood boards are just a Pinterest thing. But they are a hugely powerful tool.
