I'll be honest, I don't actually get what it means to think from "first principles". like is the whole idea to keep on asking "why" till you get to the core layer of the question?

how do u do this in an efficient way? and how do u avoid tricking urself into believing ur thinking critically vs actually doing it

Been thinking about interest rates a lot over the last week and want to throw some thoughts in a thread. Would love other's thoughts too.

I think we should be keeping interest rates high until we see a significant shift in unemployment. We should even consider raising them if unemployment doesn't move! 

Why?

I think it’s like don’t take shortcuts, reason through things yourself. Don’t just go off how people tell you things works.
