One of the things I’ve always been drawn to is pattern recognition - spotting trends, seeing where the market is shifting and what it can tell us about what will happen next. At @plexus we have so many data points each year around what salaries are offered, which ecosystems are hiring most, which roles are on the up.. and so much more. At the start of every year I put together a report which comments on this and shares our teams expert opinion on where the hiring market within the Crypto space is heading. This year were some interesting takeaways - 1. It was the first time we saw Rust overtake Solidity hires. That might sound techy but what it means is that we are seeing Solana become the dominant ecosystem within Crypto, and potentially where new talent will head to in the future.

2. The share of female hires is increasing, but it's still pants. 8% of our hires to be exact. I personally am interested to see how this develops, and have a think about what I can do on behalf of Plexus to increase female candidates.

3. We hired consistently over all the months of 2024. That might sound boring but what it actually tells us is how much the market is maturing and levelling out - we're not seeing the big swings in hiring that we have before (even if the market be swingin'). Founders have learnt from previous lessons and are being more cautious and considered, seemingly building smaller, tighter teams.
