But another fact is that tipping is social in nature. It’s cool to see “100 $DEGEN” replies. Or am I mid-curving this?

Yes, this is an incentive that might weigh against adoption. But I think it's still possible to make them usefully public for those who care. One person's "prosocial" is another's "performative." I hope we can find ways for actions to support this, like sending notifications or writing state to hubs.
