What if created /commitment for attending events? Attending and organising events I’ve seen this behaviour in web3 which is to request to attend everything. This inflates numbers creating challenges for organisers and makes us non-committal. I think this happens because events are either often free or super expensive what if there was a middle ground? A commitment deposit on-chain that gets released when you scan your ticket at the event? Similar to tactics used with gym classes and restaurants. Interested to hear thoughts for and against this.. shout out to @0xdesigner for some inspiration with visual here

The only challenge I foresee is greed. Eventually, promoters might realize they're missing out on potential revenue by returning deposits. Alternatively, they could start charging "a small fee" to "support infrastructure costs" or similar reasons. This is not a bad things, but it just ends up creating more work. Promoters are forced to implement clear and transparent policies upfront. Establish strict guidelines that detail any fees, their purposes, and when they apply. Additionally, offering incentives for promoters who maintain fair practices can foster trust and discourage unnecessary charges. Etc.

Sure it’s always a balance between power sitting with consumer and service provider in this case. I feel the current ‘norms’ create incredible pain points for provider whilst giving consumer too much leniency which also hurts them too. Hence we see many events now post something like this ‘we’re oversubscribed, first come, first served’ which doesn’t help with quality of audience either

Maintaining integrity is tough when your main goal is hype and promotion. Your situation reminds me of the classic AI trade-off between Recall and Precision. Right now, you have high recall but low precision. You're catching almost all relevant cases but also a lot of irrelevant ones (junk). This approach works well for medical diagnoses but not for promoting a show. You might want high precision, where you only capture highly relevant cases, even if it means missing some. However, this isn't possible with a simple first-come, first-served signup form. Maybe add a quiz or a quest to filter for the most engaged and relevant participants?
