there’s this rising narrative that improving crypto’s UX is enough to bring 1B+ users onchain, but I disagree: competing solely on UX against incumbents with fewer tech limitations and a history of aggressively copying successful features seems futile.
what we can and should compete on is values. cypherpunk values like privacy, open-source, data sovereignty, decentralization, and self-custody set our industry apart from big tech, and we need to push that messaging harder.
especially as global authoritarianism rises, surveillance spreads, inflation grows, geopolitical tensions fester… people will need cypherpunk tools to protect their rights to privacy, data sovereignty, trade, etc. & big tech can’t promise them that.
i suggest builders read up on the cypherpunks and consider these values and bake them into their apps. crypto apps are ephemeral but cypherpunk apps achieve PMF forever. 1 reply
