I think this was maybe like 12-18 months ago. I think a lot of creators felt like they got burned when they created more criteria and sub sets of groups that could apply. I think it was honestly probably just someone dropped the ball on comms but it had quite big ripple effects.

Looked into it and it seems like they narrowed round scope to help applicants & voters better understand the rules. I don’t see that as bad intent, but I can see how the impact of that can be frustratingly “centralized” feeling

Yeah exactly, definitely wasn’t bad intent but I think some folks, specifically artists felt like they had been left out because it now only went to builders whereas I believe in previous rounds they were allowed to apply for a grant
