had a shockwave of a feeling yesterday when @six made similar comments to mine regarding the obsolescence of following (which, in my case, dan predictably contested vehemently and did not yield an inch). maybe the founders of farcaster are just too boomer to invent a social media that excites young people.

i would search my own casts for “follow” and “tiktok” to find it. basically just that follows are a secondary engagement indicator in a post tiktok world. farcaster design is based on a pre recommendation paradigm that ig and pinterest had already eroded before tiktok even appeared on the scene and definitively changed the game

Ah gotchu! Yeah so essentially lean in to something new or use the recommendation/algo as a means of surfacing content.
