China isn’t just building large-scale and baseload electricity generating like nuclear stations, hydroelectric dams and vast fields of solar panels. It’s also figuring out how to tap into its distributed network of renewables via virtual power plants:

China's NDRC released an opinion document on accelerating growth of Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) over next 5 years.

They target 20 GW of VPP capacity by 2027 and 50 GW by 2030, giving them access to spot, mid-long term, and ancillary services markets. 🧵
