If you own a bookstore, you can predict the foot traffic on your block, get to know your customers, and assume a stable sales tax, but if you’re a blogger (or any creator) these assumptions are increasingly not true.

Today “foot traffic” is determined by esoteric algorithms while customer relationships are mediated by social networks. Platforms like Apple, Youtube, and Facebook take 30% to 100% of creator profits.
