Ok I went to an eye doctor today and I learned that washing your eyes and face is not enough. This is what you should be doing:
- washing your eyelashes and eyeline with a qtip 
- using warm compresses regularly to prevent styes 

she said washing your face is old school, and that you have to maintain your eyes just like your teeth
