would love to study carpentry in japan for a year.  maybe take a trip somewhere during the summer when its too hot

That sounds nice. Have you done any carpentry before?

It’s super rewarding building your own stuff. I built my own bar a while back - picked out a live edge piece of wood, sanded it, stained it. 

You have so much autonomy over what you get to do but you learn a lot too while fucking up. And all of that compounds knowledge to do more and more customized things. I can’t wait to see what you’ll make and learn!
