The moment of the Odyssey when Odysseus hits a low is when – having escaped to the sea from the Cyclops – he feels more need to gloat than to secure his homecoming. To hide his identity, he yells a fake name ("Outis", which in Gk means "No one"). The Cyclops sends waves that set the homecoming back ten more years.
