Someone once said 'gain of function' research should be applied to good things, not just malicious things (paraphrased). I lowkey think the entire elite higher education should re-orient itself around this principle. In a pragmatic academic world, beneficial 'gain of function' well-written essay puts a person on a fast lane to Ivy League admission. But also the most talked-about dissertation tries to use words to describe scents so what do I know! Anyhow, I for one can find a few approaches to apply positive 'gain of function' in my AI research work
