AI SAFETY COMPETITION III @mxmnr writes about AI as another human invention, like electricity and the internet, when @mattgarcia.eth expects "an earthquake", and a new epoch in the history of humanity, life, and the Cosmos itself. Why are their opinions about AI so different, which one do you agree with? - let me know in the comments. BEST COMMENT - 300 degen II PRIZE - 200 degen III PRIZE - 100 degen I recommend watching Matt's lecture in full, but if you can't, watch only the part: "AI - the evolutionary earthquake" (2 min.) AI today is basically another layer of automation. It's not general AI. It does not function like our brains. We have to show the way, describe what the problem is and how we are looking for solutions in mathematical way. Hardware and electricity limitations is another issue.

I disagree. Hardware limits will slow down the process for many years, as has been the case so far. AI algorithms are nothing new, but only recently have we had graphic cards with such performance that allows the development of such large models.
