i dont get why we need L3s/appchains

- custom gas token doesn't really make sense, if gas is gonna be abstracted away and so cheap anyways as to be negligible
- isn't base itself becoming super fast/cheap/high throughput anyways? are there really apps out there doing so much activity that base mainnet isn't good enough?

also don't see reason for posting DA to S3 over celestia or smth.

The original Cosmos thesis for appchains made so much sense when they came out with it. I remember building with Tendermint as early as 2018. 

A lot of that value has gotten absorbed by current L2s. 

There's some lesson here about the risks of diverse innovative solutions in domains that move at breakneck speeds.
