In the next few months, the Farcaster protocol will have the most meaningful increase in DAU decentralization since we started. Base will be adding a Farcaster-powered feed to Coinbase Wallet—an app that has millions of existing users and wallets with balances. They will have a paths for both existing users and new users to onboard to Farcaster, i.e. creating FIDs. That's a meaningful, tangible step toward increasing decentralization on the protocol. So if you're claiming that we're making changes to limit client competition, you are, in fact, factually incorrect (both in what we are working on at the protocol level as well the likely outcome after CB's launch).

i actually do subscribe to this, some jumbled thoughts - we need top down, heavyweight bets to drive DAU versus building a dev platform that enables few small-scale shots on goal. - it's a time-scale thing. you're not killing competition, it's too early for that, we need to set the foundation (DAU, TAM) to actually enable real client competition. - base, warpcast (and maybe some others) must go all-in to bring new FIDs. but we need farcaster to be a reliable data layer for anyone who wants to take a big shot on goal to onboard users. with almost zero cost/friction to onboard new users to protocol (not warpcast).

"but we need farcaster to be a reliable data layer for anyone who wants to take a big shot on goal to onboard users" @dwr.eth re your newest cast (growth vs decentralisation) I believe the comms around changes for people to feel that farcaster is a reliable data layer & reminding folks constantly could be improved. @linda @ted have great thoughts on that too. The Feeling is what imo could be improved, while general focus absolutely should be grow the pie. Saying this as someone who suffers on every new branding or change for products we develop, clients we have to inform, content we produce (e.g. 1 week of filming and multiple of post production weekly for our FC content) Growth is what makes all sales I do easier. Though people don't buy if they don't feel confident the foundation stays (see reliable above) Comms give the confidence, growth the interest. No need to bake things into protocol just to then break them in the name of "decentralisation". Sufficient decentralisation has a reason to exist.
