Obama: Trump didn’t send you a check, Congress did. Next Sentence: Biden sent you a check though! ??? https://x.com/barackobama/status/1851092328796045650?s=46&t=d-xtpetMVTFUBXGUpbc0Ew

Social media length constraints don’t help here. I’d read that as clarifying a President doesn’t send the checks. But if you want to attribute checks to Presidents, attribute all the checks to Presidents including Biden’s. It’s the “Joe Biden ALSO sent a check…” Are you interpreting it differently?

I am. I’m reading it as it is written. Both interpretations are acceptable.

How are you interpreting it? Here is ChatGPT's interpretation: https://chatgpt.com/share/6720db16-9a24-8013-9721-589da2fb255b The distinction made here is about which branch of government has the authority over federal spending. Stimulus payments during the pandemic were authorized and funded by Congress, which has the constitutional power over budget decisions. When people say “Trump sent a check” or “Biden sent a check,” it’s shorthand for these presidents signing into law the relief bills passed by Congress. While presidents sign legislation to make it official, the actual authority to allocate and approve spending rests with Congress, not the president. The writer is emphasizing that these checks were the result of legislative action rather than executive initiative, and they note that neither they nor Biden branded the checks with their names, contrasting with how Trump had his name added to the checks.

I’m interpreting it as it is written. He says Trump didn’t send you a stimulus check, Congress did. He then says Joe & himself did it instead of saying Congress did it. His objective is to emphasize his & Joe’s role in giving out stimulus & minimize Trump’s. This is semantics and intentional wordplay. I just find it a bit misleading to say after saying Congress did it. Also, AI isn’t a good source for interpretation because it lacks the creativity a human may have, or choose to have when analyzing something.

Ah. Ok. I think the point is that Trump doesn't deserve the credit, not that Obama deserves credit. 1. Congress is responsible for checks. 2. Checks went out during other presidencies. 3. Nobody else was so narcissistic as to try and put their own name on it. As written.

That is correct. He was the only one to put his name on it.
