'Deep Learning Describes Abstract Painting' by Emmanuel Marceau was one of the first projects I saw utilizing deep learning image recognition + captioning for something it wasn't built for. I believe this was 2017-18, in a new era where machine learning tools were becoming available for artists to make and break.
