Is this a sign of future D wins? Democrats flipped a Republican seat in Pennsylvania’s state Senate, continuing their run of overperformances in special elections. James Malone, a mayor in the Lancaster County district that was vacated by Sen. Dave McCormick’s new chief of staff, narrowly beat a Republican county commissioner; the same district had voted for Donald Trump by 15 points last year. https://www.semafor.com/article/03/25/2025/democrats-take-gop-held-seat-in-pennsylvania-election

It’s a sign of what R’s should have learned in 2022. When Trump isn’t on the ballot people don’t care. Elections that are really wide, publicized etc, Trump can win. R’s/MAGA without that broadness will struggle against the D machine. More broadly and controversially, D’s have a machine to do this at any time and location (non-presidential elections, fewer number of voters) because they are both extreme low and upper class who do not work all day. R’s do not because they span the lower to upper middle class that works all day.
