A familiar artist was found in "Anora" after all! In the nightclub where the main character works, you can see wallpaper with images of Piero Fornasetti's muse. Wallpaper is still produced under his name, but I couldn't find exactly the same. It's hard to talk about originality, and, in fact, it doesn't change anything. Just a nice detail.

The Safdie brothers have taken over A24. Josh Safdie's biopic about the ping pong star Marty Supreme, starring Timothée Chalamet, has become (https://deadline.com/2024/11/timothee-chalamet-a24-movie-marty-supreme-biggest-budget-to-date-1236167610/) the studio's most expensive film. Its budget was between $70 and $90 million. At the same time, another sports drama, this time directed by Benny Safdie, The Smashing Machine with Dwayne Johnson, is in about the same weight class. Production on both films is scheduled to be completed in the first half of next year. Are we waiting for Cannes?

It turns out that Amazon has not left the Lara Croft series with Phoebe Waller Bridge at the helm, and in recent days, they have been in the final stretch regarding casting for the leading role. Among the most relevant names are Sophie Turner and Lucy Boynton. Both have already taken part in screen tests. As for me, the appearance of Sophie is much more suitable. At one time, when the film about Lara with Alicia Vikander was in progress, it didn't appeal to me largely because Vikander was too pretty for this image. The story with Boynton is similar. Both ladies are great artists who can do it, but I probably want to see Turner shoot with both hands more.

It is easy to understand a person who does not accept his body, but how to understand someone who hates himself? I am trying to explain this feeling, to convey to others the emotions which I experience, vulnerable and painful. When you do not like your body, you can "separate" from it. When you do not like your own thoughts, nowhere to run. You are always with them. You try to make a compromise with yourself. When it doesn't work, you build a wall of incessant worries and affairs. It helps, but at that very moment, when you weaken control and give some space, this obsessive thought will be able to get through this seemingly stable structure and shred it into crumbs. And you stand amidst the rubble in this huge, empty, cold space, lost and lonely. Love helps. An attentive word, a sensitive look or a soft hand. And this musty place is suddenly filled with light.

The first reviews of Steve McQueen's Blitz have started to come out. Most critics and viewers are calling the film old-fashioned, beautiful, and at the same time surprisingly conventional for a director known for his radical direction and choice of themes. So far, most of the published reviews have praised the incredibly beautiful shots of wartime London and the visual ingenuity, which is to be expected from a skilled director. At the same time, some believe that the film would be better watched on TV during the New Year holidays than in a large cinema, because it is too melodramatic. The main reference is the works of Charles Dickens. “Blitz” is (https://x.com/lpowell092020/status/1844082963027480721) like two parts: one is an incredibly shot and terribly tense story about survival during war, and the other is a tearful moralizing melodrama that would be better watched at home on TV.”
