Somewhere in the mountains of Hakone, I'm sitting on the balcony at a ryokan. You can hear the rain drizzle on the roof and the cicadas chirp in the distance. The most peaceful I've felt in a long time.

The 10% base tariff was kept in place in spite of the 90 day pause. Could the idea be generating revenue to help with the current debt crisis? US imported $3.3 trillion worth of goods. With a tax of 10% that would be $330 billion. A quite significant amount. Obviously this doesn’t take into account the decrease of imports because of the tariffs.

Bringing your supply chain to the US will take longer than the time trump will be in office. All the companies who are able to weather the storm will simply tough it out. The rest will die. It’s not the tariffs themselves that will have an impact but the second order effects. In the new world we have a full blown trade war between the two biggest nations on the planet. It’s not safe to have your supply chain controlled by a foreign power. They will move out of china. But they wont move to the US. It’s simply too expensive there.

I feel like that’s one of the most character changing ideas one can arrive at. Nothing simply starts existing. It exists because someone willed it to exist. There is beauty in the world because people cared and took life seriously. Be one of them, take action.

I’d say there’s no other way than pricing the asset in the native coin. So for now you’re limited to digitally native assets. And the only asset group that comes to mind where that was the case are NFTs. Oh and maybe gas as well

Privacy coins didn’t pick up because we don’t use coins with fluctuating prices for payments at scale. Stablecoins won that one easily. So we’re left with implementing privacy tech for chains with the most stablecoin volume. Begs the question when we will bring back the vision of ditching the us dollar completely
