This is straight up wrong too. Facebook news feed, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest (more I’m forgetting) introduced engagement based feeds way before TikTok.

Yea, any site that experimented with sponsored content started by abandoning chronological feeds. And any site that did that, abandoned third party apps to take control of the feeds. I would say it started around 2014-2015, TikTok came way later.
