Iโ€™ve quietly invested in 30 funds over the last 8 years. Wrote a little something about why I invest in funds: https://www.ryanhoover.me/post/why-i-invest-in-funds

Unique name can help! But most people are more visual and the profile pic is first viewed before the username (I think).

For sure. I would love to spend time in the mountains to ski and maybe South America to surf as well.

A few things: 1. A unique insight, ideally something that's counter-intuitive to most. 2. Clear reason why now's the time for this to exist. Every idea has been thought of before so something must have changed. 3. And of course, traction. Investors can't ignore the market.

I think the challenge is the same for both; however, crypto introduces its own set of opportunities (e.g. the blockchain can be its own distro channel) and challenges (e.g. combatting fraud, sniping, etc. is tough). Ultimately I'd focus first on solving a core problem for a specific audience and then work backwards to identify the messaging, distro channels, and tactics to reach them.

I currently live across multiple cities. It's a good setup. I think my ideal routine would be: Miami: December-February SF: March NYC: April-July SF: August NYC: September-November But my answer would change if I'm optimizing for taxes. ;)

This might be a boring answer but stablecoins are having a moment. We're investors in Rail which makes global money movement (MASSIVE market) easier and cheaper.

3 questions! Ok, here we go. :) 1. Choose an idea you want to be a customer of. It'll make everything easier, including distribution. 2. Do whatever you enjoy. If you don't like to do it, you won't have the stamina and that's required to build a sizable audience. 3. I don't! I read whatever comes my way through Twitter and group chats, with exception to a few newsletters like the one from Justin Mares.

Meerkat was a special launch. It hit Product Hunt and quickly spread to the entire tech ecosystem. It was one of the few products that felt like magic.

"What would a crypto-first Product Hunt look like?" is an interesting prompt. I'm no longer day to day at the co and know this isn't a priority for the team at the moment but it's come up in conversation.

Building a product isn't the same as building a company. As someone who's largely product-focused, I can empathize with a founder's desire to spend 95% of their time building the best solution for users. But successful companies also need to prioritize team building, GTM/marketing/sales, fundraising, operations, and many other things.

I joined early (thanks for the invite, @dwr.eth!) out of curiosity to start. I've always been drawn to new social platforms, in part because I'm fascinated to see how others merge social consumer behavior with product design.

I'm not convinced the largest companies will be tiny teams of <10 people. Yes, many companies will and are growing to sizable revenues with a few people, but to compete in an competitive market (and anything big will attract tons of competitors) leading companies will need to hire the best people at meaningful scale.

True connection with close friends. Sounds cheesy but it's true. I'm so tired of the transactional element of business and life. My role investing doesn't help. ;)
