I'm going to second on the recommendation for Terro. We literally had ants crawling across the ceiling in a line for weeks. Terro laid out in spots where they were hanging out over time. Eventually removed them. But keep in mind the goal is to slowly kill off the entire colony so it takes a long time to work.

Yeah we had, what the exterminator thought was, a colony under our slab. You might have a similar situation.
