“Fashion has become show business. You see things through the phone held in front of what you are looking at.” Demna speaks on tech influence in fashion design, his audience and compares himself to Duchamp. A nice read. https://www.wallpaper.com/fashion-beauty/demna-balenciaga-haute-couture-interview-2024

Wonderful piece. I wish the author had sharpened the article though. Much is said about what fashion and art isn't, shouldn't be. What should it be? Marcel Duchamps didn't just criticize "retinal art" they way Demna describes "retinal fashion", but he put forth "readymades". What does Demna propose?

I guess more derivative of Duchamp than innovating, but his leather trash bags etc. Triple S sneaker started as an interesting meta commentary on chunky dad shoes. Certainly not on the same level but some designs probably more conceptual than he’s given credit (and many of its buyers imagine).
