Galileo used the telescope he built to observe the heavens and examine the surface of the moon.   At that time, they thought that force was not necessary for the body to continue moving, but an experiment showed that this was not the case, and later it led to Newton's first law.

In 1608, Galileo heard about the invention of the telescope in the Netherlands. He quickly built his own telescope and began to observe the night sky. His observations revealed that the Moon was not a perfect sphere, as Aristotle believed.
