I pre-ordered a camera designed to prevent deep fakes. It will digitally sign images using cryptography. You’ll be able to verify an image to determine if it’s been altered or is the true unaltered version. Excited to see this develop. I’ll share more when I use it.

this is very cool! i'm curious about the actual implementation. how does the camera itself verify that what was taken was legit? could someone feed in a fake photo directly through its API and get it signed? cc @july you probably have thoughts here!

asked chatGPT. while this makes sense, i could still see a world where the original image is tampered with prior to getting hashed + signed
