Fun fact: GIFs can display more than 256 colors! While it's true that individual GIF frames can display at most 256 colors, you can overlay multiple frames with a local color table plus transparency and/or logical positioning to create a GIF displaying more than 256 colors at any given instant. You must use the "do not dispose" or "unspecified" frame disposal method for this to work. Note: if your GIF is set on repeat, and you use a delay of 0 between frames, some GIF renderers will impose a minimum 100ms delay between frames.
