planning to re sub to one of the AIs — are people preferring gpt or claude these days?

Claude is incomprehensibly better for certain tasks imo

I have subscriptions to both, but mainly use the API for Claude. I prob pay around 200-300 dollars per month in prompting for my personal stuff alone just fyi

creating and destroying; built flying cars & autonomous vehicles, now building roc.camera, writings: july.rocks

I find Claude isn't as good at SQL tasks - it wants to rewrite an entire 300 line SQL query, for instance, while ChatGPT will add a few CTEs at the end (what I expect).

Tempted to pay the 200 for ChatGPT Pro, I've seen many positive comments in HN ....

Yup, agreed, it's all I use for my personal Dev these days. I think they do some clever stuff to boost the effectiveness of the LLMs because I generally have no issues with Claude in Cursor.

You should also give Cursor a try bc I've found it to be better than both Claude and OAI for code tasks

interesting - do you have sources for these positive comments? i haven't seen that much positive feedback on it but am willing to change my mind
