First time buying a computer in 15 years. Why do these two options have to cost the same? 😭 MBP 16" M3 Max / 14c CPU / 30c GPU / 96GB RAM / 2 TB SSD vs. MBP 16" M4 Pro / 14c CPU / 20c GPU / 48GB RAM / 2 TB SSD / much better screen in bright light apparently / 10-20% better battery life than above

I’d go with the 486 with turbo button and a whopping 16gb ram, also splurge on the 16bit soundblaster card

my days of SET BLASTER are done, man whole point of buying an MBP is I just want stuff to work, and happy to pay a premium not to ever worry about it ever again won't lie though, the Wintel laptops at half the price and 2x the power are super appealing...

Well I’ve been super happy with my ASUS gaming laptop. MBP work fantastic but that premium I’m not willing to pay any more.

I just run into so much open source software I want to use where Windows is an after thought, and Mac/Linux are 1st class. Then there's W11 with all the advertising and built-in spyware which makes me nauseous, and most malware seems to target Windows. Sure I can lock things down, but you have to constantly fight Microsoft (and I say this as a professional Microsoft full-stack dev for nearly 20 years now). I've been running Linux (Ubuntu / Mint) for nearly a year and I've had multiple reinstall/rebuild/pray incidents. Linux Desktop is just not stable enough. Which leaves mac...
